Full Time RV Living

How it all started

It was February 2022 when I got to bring my second baby, Peyton home from the hospital. We were so happy until we checked our mailbox after being away at the hospital and we found an unpleasant letter. This letter was from our mortgage company stating our mortgage payments were about to triple. I was in total shock. I just didn't understand. We have been in our house for three years and have been loyal to our payments. I just quit my job, we had a newborn baby and a toddler, and felt stuck.

We went into brainstorming and came up with as many options as we could think of. Ultimately it came down to selling our home, paying off the taxes with what we made & start RV living.

Career Change

We couldn't go live with our parents, we had two kids under two with three dogs. Of course, we could have stayed with them but it was not my first choice. Instead, we decided to take a HUGE leap of faith and start RV living in our 5th wheel and travel around the country while my husband takes on travel nursing.

Finding the right RV

Picking out our RV was kind of hard. We learned that almost all RVs have similar floor plans but we needed to decide which plan would fit our family first before we picked out an RV brand. Look at it like this, we all know a suburban, expedition XL, and a Yukon XL are all similar SUVs but which brand do you prefer Chevy, Ford, or GMC?

Our requirements for RV living were a mid-bunk room for the kiddos, a larger living room, a washer and dryer, a full-size residential refrigerator, a coffee nook, and a full-size shower. Once we figured out the layout we wanted we looked into four seasons RVs and then narrowed it down to price and availability.

Our Rv

Again this was February/March of 2022 when we were looking, at the beginning of RV season. Did you know a lot of families are moving and starting RV living to travel the world so, therefore it can take months of looking to find the exact one you want. But, we got lucky and found our perfect floor plan a used 2021 Sprinter Limited 3590 LFT (LFT = Loft) about four hours away.

This Rv was in excellent shape, barely even used and I mean, not a crease in the couches kind of used. I was nervous, anxious, and scared but also excited and ready to renovate. Wait a minute, you said it was barely even used and you are about to renovate a fairly new RV? YES! This sparked my creative mind and before we knew it we were creating a home for our new chapter of RV living.
