Wainscoting done in the RV

When we decided that we would be RV living full time, I then came up with RV renovation ideas to make it feel like home. We had just finished renovating our home when we had to sell it so I was pretty sad. So when our RV arrived in mid-March of 2022 I had one month to do whatever I wanted in it without us living out it before we sold our home.

Check out here to see why we had to sell our home and move into full-time RV life

To start our RV renovation the first thing we did was take out all the couches, two in the living room and one in the bunk room. I immediately posted them to my Facebook market page and quickly earned some good cash to go towards our new couch. The next thing we took out was the dinette center and valances over the windows which we sold as well, don't ever underestimate what people may buy.

Now it was time to make our RV, a home. The main living room slide I was going to paint and add some character as well so we went with a board and batten-styled wainscoting.

For this project, we bought MDF primed baseboards. First I created a border on the wall and then went every 20 inches and nailed vertical boards to create panels. First, we applied liquid nails to help secure the boards. We then used a nail gun for extra security but make sure you use a lower PSI to prevent over-penetrating through your RV wall. Then it was time to prime the walls and honestly, I primed the boards as well even though they were already primed. Once that dried and set It was time to paint. I used BEHR Naval paint in satin from Home Depot to accent off all the gray for my RV renovation.

If you ever owned an RV you should understand that the factories that make RVs are not interior designers and that dark brown is their favorite color. To brighten things up we went with a lighter, brighter, and more functional couch from Home Reserve. I went with the Tux Sectional in color Retriever Bisque. I know what your thinking a white couch with two little kids and three dogs, I'm insane but wait there's more. The main reason why I picked this couch was the stain-resistant feature and how every seat has storage underneath. The cool thing that this company offers is their No-Risk Trial, which allows you to pick a section and try it out for 30 days, if you love it you keep it, and if you don't you return it all for FREE!

We were pretty ecstatic about this first RV renovation project. This definitely got the wheels turning on many more projects to come inside our RV. My goal is to make this RV a Home. To see the full tour of our RV renovation click HERE and follow us on social media!
